Disk Drill – Terms of Sale

Posted on by JR

As you already know (for instance from our built-in tutorial), data recovery is always about chances, probability and common sense. There’s never any guarantee that your data is recoverable 100%. And there’s always a possibility that your recovered items will be corrupted and won’t open correctly. And the fact is, while we do our best to improve our software with every new update and release and invest as much of our experience and professional knowledge into the best recovery results as we can, there are always conditions that lead to incomplete or impossible recovery.

When you upgrade to Disk Drill PRO, Expert or Enterprise, we are selling you the right to use and apply our technologies in your specific scenarios, making an attempt to recover the lost data. We don’t limit you in the number of uses, and once the license is purchased, you have it for good. It won’t expire or require any annual renewals. But we don’t guarantee that the files you are looking for are recoverable. This is one of the reasons why we don’t provide refunds if there was an inconsistent recovery in a specific case.

Try before you buy

We strongly encourage you to download and try Disk Drill in free mode before upgrading to any of the paid editions. Disk Drill lets you test absolutely all supported recovery methods without paying anything. In this way you can make a clear and confident decision if you are interested in upgrading to PRO or not.

Evaluation is simple: just complete all the recovery steps in Disk Drill, and after scanning the target partition, before you hit the “Recover” button, use the Preview feature.

Again, as this is described and explained in the tutorial, if a file can be correctly previewed – it will be correctly recovered. This is how you can easily tell if Disk Drill is worth the cost of the upgrade. As a result, we assume that your informed decision to upgrade to Disk Drill PRO, Expert or Enterprise was made consciously and cannot be reimbursed.

Hint: if you are concerned that you lose your data between the moment you started the recovery, scanned the disk and then have to spend ~5 minutes for upgrading to any of the paid plans and receiving the unlock code, we recommend making a DMG backup copy of the disk (partition or memory card) you are recovering from. Later on you can easily mount it in your Mac and recover right from it without the need to keep the original media mounted. Mind the needed amount of free space though.

We can’t disable your license

Some users may erroneously suppose that digital goods can be easily returned in case the license was not used, or if a vendor disables their registration code. Unfortunately it’s not even closely so. There’s no way for us to tell (or know) whether the issued license code was or was not applied. There’s no way to disable your license code once it’s generated and emailed. There’s just no technical way to do this. Disk Drill doesn’t report any of your usage stats to CleverFiles or any third-party; we don’t have any backdoors for this in our code. Moreover, many users just run Disk Drill from bootable disks, from USB Flash drives, or else, and don’t install it at all.

Make sure you try the free edition of Disk Drill before placing the order for an upgrade. If for some reason you are not confident in purchasing, feel free to contact our tech support for help and information!
